Project Beowulf

Some of our most cherished memories center on shared experiences — especially when it comes to food.

Beyond the delight of a single bite, the food shared between family members is often steeped in tradition, created through nuanced techniques and recipes that have been handed down from one generation to the next.

“Project Beowulf”, a working title in the spirit of ancient oral traditions, seeks to build intergenerational understanding and appreciation through the exchange of food traditions. The project is inspired by a friend, who challenged to the younger members of his family to learn at least one of their grandmother's dishes and document the whole process via video. The goal, of course, was not really about the final videos, but instead for his nieces and nephews to know their grandmother better and she them.

Project Beowulf will be comprised of writing, live events, competitions, short films, all centered on everything FOOD. The true, deeper goal however will be to bring people together to overcome differences of age, culture, gender and more.

These will be the first steps to establishing the Project Beowulf as a non-profit organization to formalize and carry-on this mission. Please contact me if you are interested in being involved.
