KounterIntelligence

koun·ter·in·tel·li·gence /ˌkoun(t)ərinˈteləjəns/

noun 1. information gathered to explore and describe the best in-person experiences found at counters around the world.

The old English pubs, sushi, before it became so cool, yakitori joints, restaurant bars all have counters where you can sit, observe and engage.

We’ve been talking about this for AGES so, finally: a dedicated forum to share and document the great ‘counter experience.’

I like sitting at a counter because it’s personal, and I love the spontaneous banter and the human dimension. Just as enjoyable and interesting are the folks behind the counter, who share with us their philosophies and illustrious pasts, or sometimes educate us in unexpected ways.

I dedicate this section* of Yuko’s Table to the experience at the counter. To seek out and celebrate the great, small eateries, bars, counters and open cooking stands, as well as their food and the people that bring them to life. Just so you know, this is NOT a collection of reviews. Instead, it's a call for you to contribute your stories, their stories, and unique experiences.

*KounterIntelligence write ups are categorized under ‘Culture’, sorry its pain but the IT person can’t figure out how to set it up. Oh, that’s me.
